KAVA, EXPLAINED
What Is Kava? A Clear Introduction to the Pacific Root
Meet the plant behind the evening ritual: where kava comes from, how the drink is traditionally prepared, and what we know about Ritualt.
The plant
Kava, or Piper methysticum, is a plant in the pepper family. The drink is made from its root, not from a fermented grain or distilled spirit.
Across the Pacific, including Vanuatu, kava has been part of community life for generations. Its meaning and use vary between places and communities.
The drink
Traditionally, ground root is soaked and kneaded in water, then strained. The result is a thin, earthy drink served in a shell or cup.
Ritualt describes its product as 100% noble kava root from Vanuatu. Cultivar, grower, batch testing, and final package details have not been confirmed for this guide.
